Skater of the Month

February 2007
Megan Dung

Hi everyone, my name is Megan Dung. I am a fifth grade student at Hawaii Baptist Academy. During the week when I'm not skating, I am busy with school activities. Currently, I am a member of our Newspaper Team, Eagle Choir, Ho`omana (a Christian sign language dance group), and serve as Chaplain for Student Council. On weekends when I'm not on the ice, I am serving at church as a vocalist on a Praise and Worship Team as well as a sign dancer for our dance ministry. One of the things I love about skating is it gives you the freedom to share your personality and unique style. I love that everyone is different! Skating to me is a sport that teaches you discipline and perseverence ... you have to "WANT IT!" My favorite skater is Michelle Kwan. Her skating is mixed with power and elegance. My word of encouragement to other skaters is, "never lose hope no matter what comes your way!" Thank you for this honor ... I am truly blessed!
