Maria Parker
My name is Maria Parker and I am 8 years old. I go to Hawaii Baptist Academy and I am in 3rd grade. My hobbies are Ice Skating and Horseback riding. I love skating because it is very enjoyable and passionate. Also, it is a big challenge for me when I learn a new jump or spin. I went to Japan this summer. I went to Shin Yokohama Prince Rink. There I trained and skated. That was a great time and it was a good experience for me. Especially when I skated with the world champions. Their names are Shizuka Arakawa, Miki Ando and Fumie Suguri. All three famous skaters came on the weekends and trained with us, I really that. I can’t believe that the skaters in Japan skate about 4~6 hours a day, everyday. They also do off ice training for 1 and ½ hours and they do Ballet. I practiced my axel everyday. I also learned new spins too.
I was able to go horseback riding while in Japan. I’ve been riding since I was 3 years old. I rode a Saddle bred. Everyone said I was a great rider. I trotted and cantered. Well, I promise I will try my best at Ice Skating. Thank you for choosing me as the "Skater of the Month".
