Skater of the Month

July 2006
Erik Kuo

My name is Erik, I am currently a graduate student at the University of Hawaii School of Architecture pursuing my doctorate degree.

I started skating when I was 17, and 8 years later, I still enjoy skating as much as I did when I first started, if not more. I have passed my senior moves in the field and my novice freeskate.

Other than my education, skating is another big part of my life. I've been a competitive skater, a coach and a judge. I love every aspect of the sport. It has given me so much and I sincerely hope I can return something valuable back to the sport and the people I met through skating by continuing to volunteer my time in judging and as a coach. I am also very happy to see the development, progress and increased interest in adult skating. One of my goals in skating is to push myself and see how far I can take it and to hopefully one day compete in the adult nationals.
